Griest family home 1738
Originally built by John Griest for his family in 1738 as a 16 foot square blockhouse, then licensed as the Beard Tavern in 1754. It was the first inn west of the Susquehanna River. The original building was moved from it's original location about 2 1/2 miles east of York, PA on Lincoln Highway in 1962 to Susquehanna Memorial Gardens near Dallastown, PA.
